Value Studies Worksheets: For Practicing Drawing in with Tones

Hi there!

Thank you so much for checking these out! I can't stress enough how valuable understanding values— (the contrast of light and dark) —has been for me as an artist. It’s often the key difference between an image that works and one that doesn’t. When you learn how to use values and practice drawing with them, your ability to draw without reference improves dramatically.

I’ve created these worksheets to help you practice value drawing. You can draw directly on them, and I’ve included some reference images from my travels around the UK to give you great starting points for your studies.

Download them as PSD's where I've set the document so that you can draw directly into it!
